Default Warning: Pro Tools 2024.10.2 installer still overwriting izotope

Avid still hasn't sorted out their installer.
The 2024.10.2 installer overwrites the latest version of Izotope RX.

After using the Pro Tools installer, you have to re-run the Izotope RX installer.
It's crazy that such a simple installer fix (check versions before overwriting file!) is beyond Avid fixing now 3 times.

scan after running the 2024.10.2 installer (showing it did it again)

Avid Case : 04882510
last update to me was 12/21/24 with still no progress.
(Seriously, Avid, all package installers have options like what to do when there's a newer file. Avid didn't write their own installer. This isn't complicated to fix.)

Funny, I was just wondering about this. There are a few ARA add-ons that aren't easily available via Avid'd site, that continue to show up in MacUpdater. I'm tired of seeing Izotope in there.

I've updated the case and alerted the licensing team on it.

Seems to be an issue with izotope setting. We'll let you know once we receive updates from IT team. I've already bump it up the team.

How do you update that iZotope extension? (I believe it is for ARA).

I got that with the Mac Updater a month ago and when I go to iZotope Product Portal, it says everything is up to date.

The Avid Link RX Spectral Editor link still shows that 11.1 is current.

I finally just told Mac Updater to ignore this one since I couldn't find a way to update to 11.2

You have to run the Izotope RX installer again. Product Portal doesn't recognize that Avid overwrote its files (because the other main application files are correct.) So just download the installer direct from izotope or do an uninstall/reinstall from Product Portal to fix.

This is why something this simple that Avid broke is so annoying. The RX install takes a while to run in the first place.

Did you guys temporarily pull the 2024.10.2 installer because of this? It's not showing up for me in Avid Link or in my My Products downloads.

There's no sign of it here, and never has been. I don't think it's been pulled, I just think Avid is distributing it slowly because they won't pay for enough servers to give to everyone all at once.

Yeah, they are just being slow about distributing it. Go to the download center and you can get it before it shows up under your products

Actually that was the first place I went. It wasn't yet in my Download Center.

UPDATE! Oops! Sorry... I was looking for it in the download links of My Products. Found the actual download center and downloading now, although I'm going to have to the the reinstall of RX11 I guess.

For what it's worth, it appears you don't need to do a full blown reinstall of RX11. I have RX11 Advanced. The current version of RX11 is 11.2.0. Below is the list from Plug Info of installed RX11 AAX plugins running the ProTools 2024.10.2 installer. Note that only iZRX11SpectralEditorAAXHook is downgraded to 11.1.0.

I checked and the RX-11 Editor Application was not downgraded after running PT 2024.10.2 installer.

I had saved the RX11 11.2.0 installer, so I ran that and afterward, iZRX11SpectralEditorAAXHook was restored to 11.2.0.

So it looks to me, if you want to save yourself some time, rather than reinstalling RX-11 with the installer, you could use Time Machine to just restore iZRX11SpectralEditorAAXHook.aaxplugin located in <macintosh hd>/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/
