Default Is working with MPEG and AVI possible? No solution

I use a video-editing program called Pinnacle. I can only make movies in MPEG or AVI. I created an instructional video for my class (I'm a high school teacher). I burned it to DVD and found that the audio needs some work (noise gate, compressor, etc.) So far, all I have found was information on manipulating QuickTime. Any chance of using Protools to manipulate other formats. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Hello Funcky G..

Thanks for the help. Can you tell me how to do this? Or better yet, can you tell me where I can learn how to do this.

Thanks again,

Doesn't Import Movie under the menus toolbar work?

Thank you Kryst,

I looked at the pull down tabs. None say menue. I did find "import" under file. My choices when I do that all have to do with QuickTime except one and that is greyed out. The greyed out one says, "audio from curent movie." Could that be it? Please help.

Thanks again in advance,

AB

If you select "Import from Quicktime", two of the file types that you can select for import are "AVI" and "MPEG".

Interesting. I know I have an Import selection, but I could have sworn I also have an Import Movie selection below it. If I were on my home computer (on my laptop now), I'd double check that for my own references.
