I told you already, and will repeat myself. Anything you can do with a control surface is considered a mixing tool. What you cannot, such as tuning vocals, is called editing. Clip gain/effects go to this category.

Why do you think there are separate edit and mix windows? Because PT is modern representation of a tape machine and mixing console.

Let's just call it semantics if you wish to call anything that changes the sound "mixing" but don't expect to pass PT certification.

I mix all post production
Dialog has it's insert chain (eq/comp/de-esser/etc) but if I run into a word or line(region) that needs an extra touch of eq, I go right to clip effects.
Much faster than automating a plug-in
I, as a post production mixer, wouldn't consider that editing.

I also never use the mix window

Same here.

Semantics is distracting from the point. Clip effects are not going to be expanded unless Avid announces something different.

Check out Samplitude or Sequoia to see what's possible.

One thing I would find extremely helpful in Clip Effects would be improvements for stereo or multichannel clips: A balance knob or the ability to trim channels individually, polarity for each channel and maybe a stereo flip function.

Which says more about the relevance of PT certification in the industry (=zero) than anything else.

That's coming from someone who actually vastly prefers snapshot automation for eq/whatever changes also on single syllables over clip effects.
