Re: Loud Surge on DAW Launch, Loud Pops on Output Select
Respectfully, you need to have someone help you with your room tuning. Your LFE channel alone is getting pummeled with massive low and high frequency boosts, plus a +10dB (boost), plus no bass management or filters - so it's wide open full spectrum. Do you have an acoustician who might be able to assistant you?

Re: Loud Surge on DAW Launch, Loud Pops on Output Select
Thanks, Jeff!
I know that I need help with room tuning. I don't have anyone to help me at this point. I originally worked with Dolby to schedule room tuning, but by the time I was able to schedule it, Dolby informed me that they no longer perform the service. I explored it with another vendor, but I didn't have what they charge so I purchased SoundID Reference for Multichannel instead to use for now. SoundID created all the calibration. I understand when I look at the calibration in DADman, (and have heard this issue elsewhere) that SoundID created some out of the ordinary or massive curves in the calibration of a space, so I understand what you are saying. It's clearly not going to be as natural or perhaps as good as a professional acoustician. That being said, I can say that the calibration for Dolby and Flat presets sound amazing in the space, compared to the uncalibrated profile. I have no illusions that the space is accurate per se, but I can and will work to get it to a better place as I am able, as I know translation is everything. For the time being, the space sounds far better than before calibration, and sounds far better than it has a right to sound - being a very small space (12x12x9) with no acoustic treatment (I know, I will get to it. Being a small artist, and less a mixer, I don't have the budget to do everything I know I need to do at this time.) Regarding the LFE:
Regarding the loud surge on DAW launch, I think I was able to resolve it! Even though I was certain I had previously installed, and subsequently uninstalled the Avid HD Driver, your comment spurred me on to run the Uninstall HD Driver command once more. Now when I launch a DAW, no more loud surge to the output! Yay, thanks! Regarding the pops and clicks, I believe this is due to the SoundID profiles being applied/switched during playback, as this does not happen when playback is not in progress. The SoundID profiles also don't show the routing as dark blue in the Con section because they were imported from SoundID, and are somewhat hosted with that service, even when SoundID is not running. I'm okay with the light blue dots, it was just initially confusing. Thank you!

Re: Loud Surge on DAW Launch, Loud Pops on Output Select
Thanks, Jeff! Actually.. I spoke too soon. After each subsequent reboot, a giant surge gets sent to the output whenever Pro Tools or Logic Pro are launched.

Re: Loud Surge on DAW Launch, Loud Pops on Output Select
Quote:
Uninstalled SoundID Reference and its associated files (after backup), and after voila - no massive, dangerous, output surge on launch of a DAW. Also, the pops are gone when switching output groups in the profile. Since the filters, trims, and delays were saved to my DADman profile, all is still working as expected now - albeit imperfect per the reasons we discussed earlier. Thanks, Jeff!

Re: Loud Surge on DAW Launch, Loud Pops on Output Select
Sadly, it still happens when launching Pro Tools even without SoundID installed. It was only gone the first 8 reboots, but it came back. It had nothing to do with SoundID.
Does anyone else have this issue with Pro Tools and the MTRX Studio?? I'm on the TB3 connection only, but is this happening elsewhere to anyone else? I am beginning to wonder if it has anything to do with a recent Pro Tools update, as I only recall this happening for the last few weeks. I'm hesitant to perform heavy testing as I don't want to totally pummel my DA converters on the MTRX, and this heavy surge spikes all sixteen outputs each time. This seems like a big problem to me. I imagine that this would damage speakers and ears if anyone had the speakers on when launching Pro Tools, and totally ruin sessions with a client. Thanks!
