MPEG 4 Audio Import Not Working

Not having success with importing MPEG 4 Audio clips into a new session.

Anybody know how to get the import to work?
It does not convert the file using the import dialogue.
And can not drag and drop it into a session.

A few questions for you.

A. What version of Pro Tools are you running?
B. If you open up your MP4 in Quicktime and go to movie inspector - does it describe the file such as: MPEG-4 AAC, 44100 Hz?

I am running 2024 6.0

MPEG-4 Audio (.m4a)

I don't think I have QUICK TIME or it is an older version?

They are just audio recordings from the phone voice recorder that I use to quickly capture ideas , very useful because it involves no nonsense with having to look at a computer monitor or setting up a session......
It only takes a second to get going and I have hundreds of ideas to work with.

I ended up just dropping the file into REPEAR and then bounce to a wave file and then import it into Pro Tools.

There probably is a way to just import it into PT but definitely way too problematic.

I just checked this with Voice Memos from the phone - iOS 18.2 - shared into Messages and then dragged into the timeline of current Pro Tools 24.10.1 and it works just fine. If you'd like to share a small snippet we could certainly take a look at it.

I tried importing it again , it imported but it sounds like an electrical storm in a blender..... it converted wrongly...

AVID does not allow to send sound files , I thought protools was for audio recording? You can talk about audio , just not listen to it?
