Default pro tools out of time with click

Hi strange thing happened when I was recording with pro tools yesterday, the click is now out of time with the drums where in past sessions it was fine. The band is in time but the click is out

Can anyone shine some light on this issue thanks.

More info would help

Unclear what you mean the "click is out of time with the drums"

Are you talking midi drums (programed or pre recorded loop) or audio drums
Also you then say "the band is time" do you mean all the session tracks are in time with drum track ? (if so then why do you need the click any longer ?)

The only time I have had this happen is with midi drums, and the midi track was in slip mode and I inadvertently slipped it and was not actually starting on the 1 beat, so it was out of sync with the click. I had to go in and an slip the midi track back to starting on the 1st. beat

So as far as a possible solution (if all the tracks are in time with each other) then you can as suggested Zoom in select all the tracks and slip it back to the grid

are your drums on the grid when you zoom in or are they shifted?

hi thanks guys for getting back to me. all the music recorded is live instruments, no midi. the last time i had the session opened it worked fine 128bpm. Now everything is a smidge later than the click

Hi thanks for getting back to me. all the band are in time, but it's all out by a fraction after the click.

Humm ? I have not experienced this. I have inadvertently slipped one track but not an entire session ??

So I think I would try to diagnose this by:

As noted the click is (or should be synced exactly on the grid lines)
I would zoom in far enough to see if the audio wave form transients are a smidge late to the first grid line ,,,, if so then you can select all the tracks and move them back to the grid line .

Or since you say the previous time you had it open it was in time,, you can also just open up the "saved folder" and open a previous saved version that is in the time ( depending on what you set for auto saving time frame it may actually be few earlier saves , as opposed to the latest saved one) Any way click one of the saved versions and see if it is in time,,, then save it (I would rename it ) and it should then from that point reopen to the in time one...

can you clarify "out"... like ..the band is behind the click... or the click is completely wrong !?!?

in the 1st scenario just shift your recordings to the grid - you probably had some latency while recording
