My plan is to load it up with dual 512GB PCIe NVMe Samsung 950 Pro SSDs and a 1TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD. And upgrade the RAM 64GB eventually. Gonna take me a little bit to make my final upgrades

I actually found this laptop on Ebay. The seller is sold out of this specific model but has a few others, and there are a bunch of P50 laptops listed. I got real lucky when I found this one when I did. Lenovo seems to run some nice specials every couple of months. It just happened that I got the money for this laltop the day after Lenovo's last labor day special ended. But I found a seller on Ebay that had them at that price.

Re: Current top of the line Windows Laptop for Protools
Something like that is what I'll probably do. The weird thing to me, is on the dell website, there is an option for a second PCIe SSD. But according to the owners manual online, there's only one slot. So are they using the SATA port for that? If so that's a bit odd IMO. Anyway it would feel odd pairing a spinner with a PCIe SSD haha. And I have a 3TB USB 3.0 hard drive I already use for backups. Just need to back it up and change the file system. It's set up HFS right now. I do have Paragon's HFS+ for windows. I might try that for now. Anyway had a few mins to download some more drivers and install a bit of software. I'll be getting around to some test shortly. Should have some time Monday.

Re: Current top of the line Windows Laptop for Protools
Format your external and back up drives as exFat. It's cross platform compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux and isn't limited to just 4GB file size like Fat32.

Re: Current top of the line Windows Laptop for Protools
1) Why not NTSF? When I share files, it's usually via cloud anyway. MacDrive lets me read/write Mac HSF drives, just in case. No issues here.
2) Get a second 3TB backup drive (or whatever size) to have TWO identical backups. If either backup drive should ever fail, buy a replacement and immediately clone everything over. My 2 cents!!!

Re: Current top of the line Windows Laptop for Protools
Because Mac OSX can't write to an NTFS volume. It will read them. exFat is readable and writable by both Windows and Mac
I used to use Mac Drive also. I just prefer to have full cross platform native support without any extra software add ons. exFat has the virtually unrestricted volume size limits of the other filesystems (up to 16 exbibytes).

Re: Current top of the line Windows Laptop for Protools
I've found Paragon NTFS to work pretty well so far. No issues.

Re: Current top of the line Windows Laptop for Protools
Pro Tools for the Windows used to come bundled with Macdrive. I switched to Paragon a while back after Macdrive became really flaky.
