Default - SOLVED - Pro Tools First and Rewire setup

- SOLVED -

I read that Pro Tools First has Rewire included in it but I do not see it under my Instrument.

I would like to user Rewire to be able to use my external Korg VSTs I got when I bought my Korg keyboard.

Once I get Rewire to show up, I will use Bidule.

Please help me figure this out. Thx.

Here is the page stating Pro Tools First & Rewire:
http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home...ro-tools-first

Text Part 5 on that page:
5. You Can Use Any Virtual Instruments
The inclusion of ReWire in Pro Tools First allows you to use stuff like Ableton Live and Reason, however it also allows you to use an app like Bidule to use virtual instruments not purchased in the Avid Store that you may already own. Watch our video here

Not sure what you're asking. You won't find "Rewire" under your instrument menu. You will see Reason (or should if PT First lets you use it). You access Rewire via Reason (Or Ableton or perhaps Reaper). If you can instantiate Reason on an instrument track in PT First, then Rewire should be available through that.

I haven't used PT First, so not sure what all the limitations are. But if PT Expert says Rewire is available, they would know!

Thx a lot for your reply.

Reason Limited does not show in Pro Tools First instrument menu nor Bidule from Plogue (trial version), all are 64bit for my Win7 64bit.

I watch this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECVOcBshQpU

I would think at least Bidule would show up.
I do see other instruments such as Xpand!2, Mini Grand, Boom and such.

I am at lost here.
I really spent hours surfing for an answer, watch many videos to no avail.

Thx for your help, any idea are welcome.

I think they were wrong if you take a look partway down this page: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...s-First-FAQ#16
where it says only plugin purchased through Avid are available for use in PT First. I can find no reference on whether PT First actually has Rewire or not on the Avid sites.

So here's the page from PTE explaining that, yes, you can use Bidule and Reason with Rewire in PT First.

And here's the video where Russ shows how its done.

So, apparently you CAN use Rewire in PT First. Why its not working in your particular case, I do not know. It looks like Russ is using a Mac to demo this, so I'm wondering if this only works on a Mac system? That I don't know.

If you installed Reason and Bidule after installing PT First then PT may simply not be seeing them on launch. You may have to force a rescan of plugins
I am not sure how you would do that in First. In regular PT you do this by trashing your PT preferences

Sorry for the broken link... Here is the updated correct URL:

From pro-tools-expert.com - 5 Things Worth Knowing About Pro Tools First: goo.gl/f7aEny

- I wonder due to the fact that Plogue Bidule trial version and/or Reason Limited are free, it will not work but I can't find any info on that subject.

Did any of you got Reason Limited and Bidule to work with Pro Tools First?

Thx

Russ is definitely using a Mac - looks like at least Yosemite. I wonder if Avid closed the path to this workaround? It wouldn't be the first time they've done something like this. Rewire isn't an easy protocol to get working under the best of circumstances and with a bunch of free and/or trial stuff like the op seems to be using that might be part of the issue.

To anyone:

Did any of you got "Reason Limited" and/or "Bidule trial version" to work with Pro Tools First via Rewire?

Thx.

I haven't in "First" because I have the full versions of PT and Reason.
Which works fine via Rewire.
But I did make the mistake of installing PT and then installing Reason.
And as you posted PT did not list Reason under the instrument plugins.
When I forced PT to rescan the plugins it then was able to see Reason.

Propellerhead lists Reason Limited as supporting Rewire so it should work.

Have you tried forcing PT First to rescan the plugins ?
