I just opened a case. Here's the description:

".r" is appended to PT file names when opening auto-backup files, does not go away

This began happening after I upgraded to 2024.10.2. If I open a PT session created by automatic backup, a .r is appended to the file name. It does not disappear even when I change the name of the file, and even if the .r is deleted in the file-save dialog, Example: I open SessionX.bak.001.ptx. This opens in PT as SessionX.recovered. If I then save that file as SessionY.ptx, it's named SessionY.ptx.r.

The case number that came up in my browser history was 04932094, but I never received a confirmation email. Either there was one last confirmation click I didn't do, or it's lost in your system. You might also try myles "at" mylescochran.com, as that's the email I use for my Avid account. I can't find any way to search on the case number; I assume that would be in the confirmation email.

Thanks,

Myles

Same issue now, still on Feb 26, 2025. Must have happened from restoring from backup and 'saving as'. PT 2024.10.2 on Sequoia 15.3.1. Mac Mini M4. Weirdly, I also noticed that the preference "Automatically copy files on import" became unchecked somehow. And I NEVER uncheck this because it can be disastrous when adding hundreds of SFX and library music files from multiple drives when producing commercials. What a hassle! Not sure if it's somehow related but I noticed this all started last week when I created this session. OY!

And now the .r suffix has ceased to be.
