Default Digi 002R, core audio 8.0.4b and cubase problem

Hello all,

I upgraded to win7 x64 a while ago and remember having a hard time finding the corresponding core audio driver. i remember downloading it from a site that a user here had set up as it wasn't officially available for some reason...

I still cannot seem to find it in the confusing avid pages. is there a non beta version now? If so, where??

Then, I cannot seem to get direct monitoring working in Cubase 5.5.0, although it does work on my XP partition with core audio 7.3. Could it be the driver not routing the signals to 1-2 out of the digi 002R?

thanks for any help!

One of the reasons for that is that you are confusing the terminology. "Core Audio" is the generic audio driver for MAC systems.

The drivers that you are looking for for Windows are ASIO drivers.

Currently, the Win7-64 standalone ASIO drivers for the 002R are not available individually. You would need to install Pro Tools 8.0.4 to get them.

hi spkguitar,

duh!...thanks a lot for clarifying that for me...I actually wasn't aware of that!
However, I do have a standalone driver working right now, v8.0.4b (x64), which, as I said, cannot remember where I downloaded it from, as it's apparently not official .Fact is, there seem to be NO Asio drivers available at all in the avid download section...if I do a search in the download section, none show up. How come?

Also just wanted to check if the direct monitoring problem is a common issue with my hardware and Cubase.

cheers nonetheless!

That is the beta driver. It was available before the official release of 8.0.4 for those brave enough to use it.

As I mentioned...

I'll have to let someone else field that one; I'm not a cubase user. Sorry.

If you are using win7 and asio, then, at the moment, you have 2 choices -
8.0.3b drivers - working asio, but no directmonitoring.
8.0.4 drivers - nonworking asio (only clicks & pops - widely reported issue)

I'm using 3rd option - win7 pro came with a winxp downgrade licence, so i'm using xp until avid has working asio..

Hi Oxelamp,

actually 8.0.4b works fine in Cubase 5, no complaints except the direct monitoring. Everything else is really smooth. I'm on win7 x64, maybe that's another factor.

ok, i probably messed up a bit.
8.0.4b (not 8.0.3b) works without direct monitoring, but 8.0.4 official release does not.
