Default Pro Tools for ants ?!? Resolution Issues

Hello all,

I downloaded Pro Tools 2022.6 for my Lenovo X1 laptop. For some reason everything is really small in Pro Tools, starting with the startup menu and also within the application. The menu on top is cut off and even when I maximize the windows and play with resizing, everything is very small. I tried to make adjustments to the resolution and scale in the display settings, it did not help. It could be the video card, which is an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 Ti. I also enabled/disabled touchscreen settings. Please help.

Thanks

Well, how big is the screen? What resolution does it run? Odds are its 15"or less and running 1920x1080, and that will make everything small(one thing I hate about laptops). The easy(?) solution would be to connect a 27" or bigger screen. I work on 32" screens here and its great(though my previous 27" was okay too)

Yeah, my tiny laptop from 2012 no longer displayed the whole screen, but now it's not even qualified.

I also concur that using a larger screen is key to seeing everything clearly. So much info needed to access quickly.. I do not imagine panning around a zoomed in larger view area--or something--being part of a constructive workflow.

I realize a larger screen may be inaccessible, but it is probably the best solution. My 54" so called smart tv goes well now beside my 27" iMac.

The larger screen is 1080, but the iMac is 5k. Therefore, when I pull a window that fits on the iMac over to the bigger but lower resolution display, suddenly I have to shrink windows just to fit.

In other words, your problem might be a universal issue with screen sizes and resolutions, without a clear "simple fix."

I took some pictures of the problem.

First pic is the pic when Pro Tools is loading. Seems to be proper resolution.

Second pic is after Pro Tools is loaded and I've opened a project. Notice top menu is cut off. Seems off.

Third pic is the startup menu. Its very small.

I'm new to Pro Tools, it works fine on desktop for me. Maybe its supposed to be like this?

screen is 15.6" resolution is 3840 x 2160

Not an expert, but I think this is your problem. Can you set the laptop to run 1920x1080? Or Right-click on the Pro Tools icon and select Properties, then the Compatibility tab. In that window, there are some options that might help. There might be a checkbox for a low resolution, or maybe under the option for Change high DPI settings.

I got Pro Tools to look right when I changed the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and also changed the high DPI settings to scale from application, both. Thanks for your help.
