Default Protools will not launch

My protools will not launch when I click on the icon. I have had this problem once in the past and had to uninstall the software and reinstall it. After, it worked fine.

I now have the same problem but this time when I try to uninstall it. It will not finish the task. I had to use an uninstall software to take it out.

Now when I try to reinstall it, it does not finish and freezes. I have to turn off the computer manually. I did notice that on the day it would not launch my computer updated a bunch of Windows Updates ( not sure if thats what caused it). I tried several times to reinstall it and it does the same thing.

Anybody have any ideas?? I'm running Protool 7.0 on a Dell. I did not have any problems when I first installed it.

remove Explore 8 and instal version 7
I had the same problem
Digidesign is currently investigating reports of Pro Tools not launching for some users after installation of Internet Explorer 8, or the IE8 installation that is included with Vista SP2.

At this time it is recommended that customers avoid installing IE8, or unchecking the option to do so if you're taking a chance and updating to SP2, until we complete our investigation.

We do not currently recommend updating to SP2, as we have not fully tested it for compatibility with Pro Tools.

Thanks Dobro gor getting back. I have IE 6.0 w/ SP3 . Does that make any difference?? Let me know and thank you

Are you sure it's IE6?

"...a bunch of Windows Updates..."

IE8 could definitely be one of those updates.

Yes, when I click on "help" and then "about IE" it says 6.0.
