protools stalls on opening the 7.4.2 the full version

When I open protools it starts to load up but then stops at loading plugins dpm, and it gives me the little clock and the spinning color circle,this seems to last indefinitely whats goin on?

Most likely you need to update your plug-ins, including ReWire applications.

ALL Rewire capable applications must be updated to their most current, Leopard compatible versions, especially Melodyne.

You could also just remove the Melodyne components from MacHD>Library>Application Support>Propellerhead Software/Rewire, which should allow Pro Tools to launch (assuming all other ReWire components are up to date...).

Make sure that all other installed plug-ins are the minimum required for Pro Tools 7.4.2 compatibility:

Most likely an incompatible plug-in. Check that any third party (non Digirack) plug-ins are Leopard compatible (I'm assuming you're running Mac OS 10.5.3, right?).

Rewire applications like Melodyne, in particular, seem prone to causing problems if not bang up to date. You can test this by moving plug-ins to the unused folder, clearing prefs/rebooting and putting them back one at a time (launching PT each time also). Do this also with the Digirewire plug-in as this can alleviate the launch failure if, as stated above, Rewire applications are not compatible.

Either your internet connection is wonky or the server you're downloading it from is wonky. Try it again in a little while. A failure to mount usually means it didn't get all the data in the download.

cheers, you dont happen to know why my pt le code on the inside of the user guide does not validate,i presume it's something to do with the upgrade i did to 7.4.2, where do I find that code?

1. Do you have a version 7.4 code (starts 074)? A 7.3 code (or earlier) will not work.
2. If you purchased 7.4 online, you may be able to retrieve the code from your Digistore account.
3. If you obtained 7.4 as an amnesty upgrade, the code should be available from you My Digi account.
