Best Processor

I have been searching on this for 2 days....can anyone tell me the best processor for running 6.4 on a 001....my motherboard can handle from celeron D to Core 2 Duo... currently i just bought a pentium 4,, 3.o ghz...................... can 6.4 handle a Core 2 Duo...or should i just keep running the pentium 4..... i just found that digi recomended running pentium 4 on the site

Hello,

If you install a core 2 you will need to update protools to 7.x for multi core support.
If you use other DAW's as well it could be worth it for them.

Actually while un approved keeron built a Quad and its running 6.4 just fine.

A Core 2 Duo or A Quad should run fine.

Interestingly enough there didn't seem to be any issues with having to set the processor affinity to avoid crashing PT. Run the latest Pace drivers and SP2

I don't have a 001 so my ability to help you is limited. But basically from kerrons testing (search his posts) it was running better on one slower Core 2 core than what he was using before. If you already own the board I would put a Core 2 in it. It should be a improvement.
