I really want to stick with protools but this B.S. with not being able to record 96k with native 002 is nonsense. We've waited long enough and some peoples patience have run thin with Digi's marketing scheme. Anyone wanna buy a 002?

What seems to be the problem? I record at 96KHz on my Digi002/002R all the time. Oh, I see on your other post that you are trying to record at 96KHz using the SPDIF digital I/O. The Digidesign specifications have always stated that 96KHz was only available on the analog inputs and not via the SPDIF nor ADAT I/O. Were you expecting something different when you bought the 002? Anyways, if the 002 doesn't work for you, then it doesn't. You might consider the MOTU (Mark of the Unicorn) interfaces with Cubase or Cakewalk Sonar. If you are open to going with a Mac, there's Digital Performer and Logic Pro available. Make sure you read up on the specs before making another buying mistake.
(Correction: I stand corrected. The SPDIF does support 96KHz. Sorry for the misinformation)

Well even if I figure this out which I think is a AES to SPDIF translation problem I can still only record 2 tracks at a time in 96k with decent converters.

brokemusician3,
Hmm.. I'm sure there are many of us here, who happily work with 96 kHz sessions. What do you exactly mean ? If you thinking of the 002's ADAT interface isn't able to work @ 96K..let me assure you that none of the current Digi hardware can. best of luck,

I'm not understanding this reply are you saying there's a way to record 96k in protools? What are you saying? |

Yes. You can record to Protools in 96KHz using the Digi002's 8 analog inputs. From lemix's experience, you can also record at 96KHz using the SPDIF digital inputs for two more channels.
What we are saying is that you can NOT record 96KHz from the ADAT optical inputs due to a limitation on the ADAT specification that the Digi002 uses. The Digi002 does not support the newer ADAT-SMUX standard which uses two ADAT optical connectors to get 8 channels of 96KHz. Bottom line is you CAN record at 96KHz using Protools on a Digi002. Just use the right inputs.

Yea I knew that I want to bypass their converters and it won't let you except for the spdif.
