What is the blue line in volume on the edit screen.
Whats the blue line in volume on the edit screen.
Why is it changing values even though I have never actually done anything on a blue line but it is automation I have made on the black line Is this something to do with coalesce automation. If so Im assuming its is a prefs thing. But how do I remove or change it once it is in there. |

Re: What is the blue line in volume on the edit screen.
It is the representation of the volume automation when you are in volume trim mode.

No. Just don't view the volume trim automation in the edit window.

It will also appear if you are using a VCA to control that track(HD and CPTK users).

I never use volume trim.
I do not even know what it is. Im assuming its just a way to raise the overall volume automation and all I just use the trim plug |

Could you please post a screenshot of your edit window with the blue line?

It also appears if you have volume automation written, then deactivate that automation. Here the blue line shows your current fader position as Pro Tools will not follow deactivated automation. So maybe you have deactivated your volume automation by accident? (Cmd+Ctrl Click on "volume" automation selector under the track name) Hope this helps, Timothy |

Thank you. I just started using vca,s a few months ago. In some instances it saves voices verses using bus,s is this how vca automation on a SSL works. My understanding of vca automation is it just regulates the voltage instead of actual moving faders. So I think it is not the same dumb question |

Re: What is the blue line in volume on the edit screen.
I haven't used an SSL, so I do not know if a VCA on an SSL will actually move the other faders. On an electrical level, a VCA on an SSL would raise or lower the level of the grouped channels as you raise or lower the VCA master.
