Looks like the latest and greatest, K series Cpu's from Intel are having issues.

Have you guys experienced any of that?

No issues like that for me. However, I am running the older i9-11900K chip, with only P-Cores and no E-Cores. I am clocking all cores at a constant 5.1, and it works great.

Well, the time has finally arrived and this week I will be ordering my new system. Here's the specs that I think I will go with. I would appreciate any feedback. Am I overlooking anything. Is there something I should do differently? I'm not well versed in all the techno-babble about MB's and all that, so would like to be sure I'm getting what will be a stable and fast system.

Here's the parts list that I'm having built.

Power supply - EVGA 850W B5 Fully-Modular PSU
MB - Gigabyte z790 UD AC
CUP - i9-14900k
Thermalite Dual Air Cooler
Corsiar RGB 64GB 6000 DDR5
OS Drive - 1TB Samsung 990 EVO M.2 SSD
Session Drive - 2TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 SSD
Additional drive for samples, patches, etc - 4 TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 SSD
Video - MSI RTX 4060 2x 8GB (g-force)
OS - Win-11
And one mLan port for my Yamaha Motif XS8 which is my main MIDI controller.

Good? ANYONE???
.

Thanks

When I get my new system built, I plan to do a clean install of all the programs I use including Pro Tools, and all ( or most) of my plug-ins.

What I'm not clear on is are there any folders or files that I will need to be sure to bring over to the new system my current OS drive, especially any that wouldn't normally be stored in my current OS's "User" folder? Are there files or folders that would have settings or other I would need on the new system?

I keep most of my VI patch libraries, samples, and such, on a separate drive now, so I can bring all that over to the new system as is. I'm mainly wondering about any files/folders on my current OS drive only that would be needed to be copied into the new system.

I'm copying my current drives over to a 10TB backup drive and will copy from that to the new system, including my PT sessions, and everything (or most everything) off my current sample/patch drive.

What else do I need to think about? I'm assuming I can just copy my current PT session drive over file for file, yes?

You will have to relink sample libraries(shouldn't be too tough). Even if you don't copy over plugin presets, when you open old sessions on the new rig, the settings should be in place so you can save as a preset(of course, this depends on how many presets you use). Copying session folders should also work fine, but I would copy(not move) so your 10TB drive is a good backup(but remember, if its not in 3 places, its not backed up)

Dave, Yeah, I knew I'd have to provide new links for all my sample/patch libraries. And, yes, I plan to COPY not MOVE the files. I have all my PT sessions backed-up on the 10TB drive in one folder. My plan was to copy that as is from there to the new system.

Are there any folders or files within Program Files, or Progam Data folders on the current OS I need to be sure to copy over to the new system? They're all backed up on my backup drive now.

And, how do my specs for the new system look?
