help! help!
played a new song at 3 clubs tonight
great response but . . . volume was half the volume of commercial CDs. They couldn't boost high enough without clipping at one club (with inferior sound) I bounced a stereo mix from PT HD 3 right before clipping but was still much lower than comps. any ADVICE??? Is there a plug in to boost volumes before exporting regions as files? or should I bounce the stereo pair differently. thanks as always!!!!~ |

Re: help! help!
Have you tried limiting and/or compressing the 2mix?

Re: help! help!
I have. I don't think that's it.
I already have it leaving PT as hot as possible, right before distorting. I bounce the stereo mix "export region as file" as a stereo pair yet it's literally half the volume of commercial CDs in the club. It's also half the volume of friends that have far inferior systems, so I'm sure it's something simple, I'm just clueless!!!! (they don't have an easy answer either, thought they don't have the expertise). Once exported, I'm burning to a CD via Switch > MP3 > TOAST. It's also low though through Toast titanium to a CD via AIFF as well. So it's obviously a problem at the exporting stage. any help appreciated!!!! Is it possible too hot (right before distortion) before leaving???? Should Toast or Switch be pumping volume???? thanks!!!!!!!!! Still got Saturday to make it pump . . . |

Re: help! help!
thanks, I'm sure that would help, but I think my problem is simpler than that.
Again, it's ridiculously low volume. Friends with thousand dollar systems upload tracks to soundcloud at double the volume of my tracks recorded on a systme much grander. So I'm sure a masterer will get the absolute maximum volume, but for now I just need adequate volume and am WAY off of that - and shouldn't be. |

Re: help! help!
Should I be NOT exporting regions as files but bouncing to disk?

How bout MAXIM?
Just figured out that may work. How's the quality? Will I be losing much with that plug in? |

Re: help! help!
This has nothing to do with it. I bet if you explain where you put your mixbus compressor and how you have it set (ratio, threshold, etc) the solution will be obvious. For what u are doing you don't need a mastering engineer, you just need to learn how and where a compressor works. ff
