PT. 12.5 Perpetual license for Students /Teachers inc liLOK 2 Annual upgrade/support
Hello forum,
I purchased '' PT. 12.5 Perpetual license for Students /Teachers inc liLOK 2 Annual upgrade/support.'' Currently, I am using this (see below - and everything works fine - it works just great!): OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) Processor 4GHz Intel core i7 Memory 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB AVID Pro Tools 12.5 for students + Teachers (inc. iLOK 2 + Annual Upgrade/Support) 003 Control Surface I am a new member and basically, I just wanted to ask if I can upgrade to Sierra and to PT 12.7, since I have an Upgrade Plan active (until September 25, 2017). Does this means that I will receive, at no extra charge, all updates to Pro Tools until that date? Obviously, I would like to update to Sierra and a newer version of Pro Tools, but I am very new to this 'kind-of-thing' and I would appreciate (very much) someone who can instruct me on the topic. Everything is ok at the moment - but, I was just wondering if I should update and what precautionary measures do I take if it does not work? Kind regards |

Also, be sure to download all installers and keep them in a safe place since once/if you go "off plan" you won't have access to them. |

Re: PT. 12.5 Perpetual license for Students /Teachers inc liLOK 2 Annual upgrade/supp
That is good news.
And it does not matter if I have the 12.5 Perpetual license? I can just upgrade to Pro Tools 12.7 and install the drivers for the 003 and everything will be OK? I haven't got to pay anything extra, have I? Any idea how to clone a drive (any links?) I think I understand this:- '' download all installers and keep them in a safe place since once/if you go "off plan" you won't have access to them. '' This is the first time I've had to write to this forum and I've had no problem with Pro Tools whatsoever (since the 3.5 months I've had it) Thanks |

Welcome to the community.
Regarding your upgrade to 12.7... there was a license change in 12.6 so make sure you have the updated license bundle before installing. I'd also recommend that you subscribe to the Tech Alerts subforum (with a daily or weekly email) to get info.

This will probably help with licensing questions. When you log into your Avid acct, does it show it as active? And what version is shown as available for download? |

Re: PT. 12.5 Perpetual license for Students /Teachers inc liLOK 2 Annual upgrade/supp
Hello again...
I'm sorry for the late reply (I have a lot of uni assignments to hand-in!) And I'm sorry if I am being too inquisitive, but I need to understand this situation thoroughly. At this point of time I have Pro tools 12.5.2. At present - in my AVID account PT 12.7 is available... Somebody told me that: '' I will be able to upgrade to 12.7 - since I have an upgrade plan - which is active until September 25, 2017 - and this means I will receive, at no extra charge, all updates to Pro Tools until that date. '' So for example; if I did upgrade to 12.7 - and I did not renew my plan - I would not get any more updates after September 25, 2017 and I would have to roll back to 12.5.2 (my perpetual license, which would never expire!) However, If I want to make sure i'll get PT13 or 14 - when they come out - I have to make sure I stay on the plan... And then my PT license will be updated as well. So... What they are stating is: If I did upgrade to PT 12.7 - [this] would only be active until September 27, 2017 - and if i did not renew/update my plan - I would have to request the 12.5.2 installers (from yourselves) - because I have/own a perpetual license? In addition, I would have already updated to OS X Sierra - and I doubt that it would be compatible with my PT 12.5.2 (because it is compatible with OS X EL Capitan v10.11.6) - this action would probably render my current PT 12.5.2 as useless. And I would be probably crying at that point of time in the future... Am I right to make this assumption - or am I just too much of a 'newb.' I also noticed my question has been moved - I'm sorry If I posted in the wrong forum. Where has it been moved too? Kind regards S |

Re: PT. 12.5 Perpetual license for Students /Teachers inc liLOK 2 Annual upgrade/supp
If you update to 12.7 before your plan lapses you will be able to use 12.7 when your plan expire or the latest version you install before the time is up on your plan so if 12.9 or 13 comes out and you install before your plan lapses you will be able to use that latest version as your perpetual version.
And as you had the same question in two threads they were merged so your original thread is in this one. It is against forum rules to gave multiple threads with the same content or questions. Good Luck Christopher
