In may case, I use Izotope in Pro-Tools in Audiosuite and may be the hum remover in real time but I never use it as stand alone version (this is just my work flow I guess).
Thanks garnoil for reporting!

Is the RTAS Hum removal gone, or just not having the new feature?
I hope they add it and it's working now. So far this part of RX was dissappointing.

Could you say something about the new denoiser algorithms and if advanced version gives something extra in this area?

Also, they mention a new declicker (algorithm i suppose).
Has anybody tried it, is it better working for clothes rustle now?

No the normal "Hum removal" is still RTAS, it is just the new feature with the "intelligent auto learn fundamental hum frequency" that appears to be only stand alone.

The new De-noise is very, very good. There are much less detectable "watery" sound artifacts than in the previous version. I just started using it and I have not explored all the possibilities but just using the "simple A" module is really fantastic. I was able to clean dialogue -female voice whispering- that was very low level and totally buried in floor noise. When I was cleaning these whispers, I used other forms of NR processing as well as Izotope but Izotope De-Noise made a very big difference.

garnoil,
Do you have the Standard version or the Advanced? The Advanced has an "Adaptive Denoiser mode for changing background noise" which I think is specifically targeted at removing changing background noise from dialog tracks. The Standard version does not have this feature. Just wondering if your dialog clean up was done with Standard or Advanced.

Also, you say "watery" was better. How about "chirpies"?

Hopefully we can get a shootout between Standard and Advanced for dialog clean up before the Intro pricing is done at the end of October.

Thanks to Alexey and a bit of subsequent digging around, I have found out that anyone buying RX after IIRC 26 July gets a free upgrade. Good service!

I have the Advanced version. It sounds much better for de-noising. "Watery, chirpies" whatever you call them I am referring to "much less noticeable digital artifacts" when applying the de-noise. Yes, it also has the Adaptive Denoise mode"

I mirror Garnoil's impression: when trying out the new RX2 denoise today, I was impressed. The additional controls in Advanced mode are meaningful.

Get the demo and explore it.

As for workflow: I've been using the stand-alone for some tasks. My method is to select the audio I want to process, consolidate (after a quick copy-to-adjacent-track-and-mute) and simply open the consolidated file directly in RX.

After processing, I save-as in RX and re-import to PT. (in practice, saving back into the original file is problematic as due to caching you don't hear the changes.) (on second thought, perhaps saving back into the original, then consolidating AGAIN back in PT would work -- I will try it tomorrow.)

The new D algorithm of De-noise is awesome.
Well worth the money.

In spectral repair, is there a way to change the sensitivity of the magic wand? Couldn't see it immediately.

what you may be referring to is a "clever" new "feature" in Pro Tools whereby if you import an audio file which happens to have the same unique ID as one already in the session, PT will add a region to your bin called (eg) "FileB" but actually be linking to the original file "fileA".
and not bother to warn you of course.

so if you're using the standalone RX and you have it set to "preserve non audio metadata" you'll get a nicely cleaned file which looks like it imports to PT but sounds identical to the original. 'cause it is.

this caught me out really badly during a final mix - after making 4 or 5 increasingly more "cleaned-up" versions of a line I gave up, thinking that I was going mad.

so right there is a bug that actually made our film sound worse, wasted final mix stage time ($$$) and potentially made dialog less intelligible.
