Default PT8: Copying notes between tracks in Midi Editor?

Hi!

Can't seem to figure out how this is done and can't find by searching how to do this conveniently.

Quite a simple thing.. Just made a two bar midi bass loop and want to copy that group of notes to another midi track inside Midi Editor.

Thanks
Dennis

Hey now i got it to work, after i created a midi region for the other track. Is it really so that i need to create a midi region for the other midi track before i can paste notes in it?

So is the solution to "go around" the problem by first creating eg. one note in the empty track so that a region is formed and after that paste the wanted content in it?

When copying and pasting to another track in the MEW make sure the Edit Insertion is in the destination track even though that track is Pencil Enabled.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

What would be simplest way of changing the Edit Insertion between tracks?

I noticed that one way to copy notes from track to another is hiding the track i copied from, from the track pane, and then pasting, but if i still have multiple tracks visible this doesn't explain on what basis the target track is selected for the paste?

So the question is: where is this mysterious Edit Insertion -selector? :)

-Dennis

ps. just so you know, i've really tried many different ways and gone through the manual several times, but can't find the answer

The targeted track is displayed by the Pencil Enable icon in the MEW Track List. And Edit Insertion (Selector tool).

Ideally copying and pasting between tracks and this includes merging is typically done in the Edit Window in Region View with a Targeted MEW.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "and edit insertion (selector tool)"?

As i've explained, i am copying notes, not regions.
