Default Suggestions for a New Version of Sound Replacer ....

I'm running the latest version of Sound Replacer and use it on almost every project. I have some suggestions for future versions.

1. When you pull down the threshold and you get a line on your peak, sometimes SR won't place a sample there. Conversely it adds samples when no peak line is present.

For future upgrades, please iron this out. When doing intensive SR'ing this sucks. I find it happens more when the peaks are less defined, such as softer tom hits. Bottom line if there's a line, place a sample. No line, no sample.

2. The scroll bar at the bottom of SR's wave window, you can nudge it over in small increments and you can click-hold-and-pull the screen to where you want, but you cannot page over. When I'm Sound Replacing, I like to work fast. I don't want to click the arrows at either end of the scroll bar 4-10 times just to get one screen ahead, but I also don't want to pull the screen and miss anything.

For future releases please let us "page over" by clicking between the scroll arrow and the scroll bar.

3. When SR'ing bad drummers, drummers who hit like Godzilla with one hit and Snow White the next, it sucks because sometimes certain key hits are so soft that pulling down the threshold grabs other, non-relevant drums(i.e. grabbing kicks while you're SR'ing a snare track). A lot of times it could be just a bad hit in a mostly consistent track. Even though I know several workarounds for this, they are mostly time consuming.

Here's my proposal:
Add in a function where we could either click a peak(or anywhere for that matter) to add sample that doesn't fall into the present threshold or click a peak/line to take out a would-be sample that falls into the present threshold. This would save tons of time as well.

I hope someone reads this who might try to implement some and hopefully all these suggestions.

If anyone else has SR suggestions, chime in. Let me know what you think of mine as well.

HI

I have been using SR more and more recently, I can't say I have ever experienced it putting samples where no lines are present or vice verca?

However I agree with most other comments!

Rob,

It happens to me a lot with toms and in fill patterns. Not so much Kick and Snare.

Those are two fantastic suggestions... fixing the scroll bar, and also click-placing a trigger line... genius, man, genius.
