I think it is the Xeon processors in the cheese grater. I don't believe those have Turbo Boost (Mac speak for over-clocking). I think Turbo Boost was only in the i7 and i9 processors. The Turbo Boost playback engine setting was introduced in 2021.6, I believe.

Yes this software option was introduced in 2021.6.

And yes the Intel Xeon family used in the pretty 2009/2010/2012 era Mac Pro have Turbo Boost. But it's Turbo Boost 1 not 2. I knew these had Turbo Boost so I had guessed that Pro Tools was not new enough.

Nowhere that I can see does Avid say this feature is Turbo Boost 2 only--or maybe they are just doing this on laptops?? Sigh Avid get your act together.
