can protools accept wave files from other DAW
hi
here is the scenario: im going to a studio to record a track done at home in cakewalk 9. its on my hard drive (apx 15 tracks including vocals). Can i send these wave files into protools to be mixed? If so , can i burn these wave files to a cd? Would i be able to go into this protools session with a cd of wave files and lay them into protools? R feel free to contact me at [email protected] |

Re: can protools accept wave files from other DAW
As I recall Cakewalk does not use wav files. However, to answer your question, PT will work with .wav, AIFF or SDii files from any DAW based application. It is best if starting new sessions in PT to set the session paramaters to the files, i.e. 24 bit 44.1k wav files, and enforce mac/pc compatibility.
Hope this is helpful. |

That i don't know.....
Onerob wants to know if .wav files can be imported into protools, and yes they can... I think that cakewalk somehow has a feature to export files as .wav or AIFF or something that can be imported easely into a protools session.... If i confused things here, i appologize...

Cakewalk 9 definitely uses .wav files.

I am not sure how you get there but, I am sure Cakewalk can export .wav files. I used to do it in CW9.

Re: can protools accept wave files from other DAW
Well, at least as far as Sonar goes...
When installed, Sonar creates a folder in the system root drive called "Cakewalk Projects". Inside that folder there's an "Audio Data" folder which contains all .wav files from your current projects. |
