Default Pro tools 8 HD on thunderbolt??

Does anyone know if you can setup a pro tools 8 HD2 system to use thunderbolt? if not what would be the requirment to use HD PCI-e core and accel card without needing to upgrade to the new cards.

Thanks,
Bobbycito

What do you mean? Like using a Thunderbolt PCI enclosure? I don't believe any of those enclosures have been released yet, and even if so they're definitely not tested with PT, I would highly doubt they'd work.

Avid has been testing these for a while and they seem to work fine. Sonnet is now shipping theirs.

I don't think there will be much problem with TDM cards as it's still the PCIe protocol. I think his issue will be trying to stay on HD8, because I don't know about it's compatibility with Lion or Windows 7, and pretty much any computer you can get now or in the near future that has Thunderbolt will have one of those operating systems.

Also, my understanding is that drivers have to be marked as Thunderbolt aware (to support hot-plugging, etc). Not sure whether Avid will do this for HD or only for HDX.
