Default Diegetic Sounds TV/Radio Filter

What's your favorite tool/chain for diegetic TV/Radio sounds in the room.
What kind of simulation do you recommend? Either from Avid or third party plug ins.

Speakerphone and Altiverb in series are pretty powerful. I've had great results with that classic combo.

Speakerphone is unreliable re automation, so I tend to use McDSP Futzbox. Speakerphone also sounds “too real” and can loose intelligibility, so McDSP scores there too.
I tend to like Cargo Cult’s Slapper before any reverb, it adds some complex delay which makes you use less reverb and the reverb matching therefore becomes less critical. Which makes it all easier to sell to the viewer.

Its not the automation its one of the most stupid thing in Speakerphone:
Many presets have Auto Gain engaged along with the input trim pot.
You need to turn off the Auto Gain and set In gain to zero each time you write the automation for selection.
For some reason Auto On/Off is not automation enabled.
I wrote to Aram several times regarding this issue but he refuses to change it (quote him):

the auto level is in the plug-in is due to the sample bay (the noise generating part of the plug-in).
Many presets rely on the sample bay content. The right mix between input audio and sample bay content is important to make the presets work.
This is why the auto level is engaged on most presets.

Once turned off the auto level should not turn ON again and the input level will stay untouched.
However when you load a new preset (containing an auto level ON setting) the auto level will be set to ON again.
I recommend you to save the preset you use with auto level OFF. Then when you use this presets and write to all enabled, you should not get any odd behavior.
Odd behavior can for instance start when a Speakerphone setting (with auto level ON) is saved in the session. Then this will reload on recalling the session.

The bottom line, other than this issue I find no automation issues in Speakerphone and I use it in very complex feature sessions. Pay attention to turn off AutoGain each time you load the preset and you will be fine.
