400/yr not as face slapping as the "reinstatement" fee.

And they had that 20% off sale in December. I upgraded my three rigs during the sale.

I'd just like a more accessible plan for those wanting to go from vanilla.

I'd pay 999 up front if it was 399 per year, but they want 999 per year with the rental model, in one payment.

it's too hard for some of us.

So just so i have this right, if i ever manage to upgrade to HD hardware, the version of PT i get with that is 399 per year correct, not 999?

No. Don't have it right. You don't necessarily get PT HD software with the hardware unless you pay for it:

Initial license: $2499
Then every year after the first year $399 to keep up-to-date.
If you miss paying every year, then $999 for one year to reinstate.

or

Every year $999 (which is the subscription plan.) That does not go to $399; it always stays at $999/year.

So if you do the math, it's at year 5 that the perpetual license starts saving you money. Year 4, the perpetual would have cost in total $4095 and the subscription $3996. At year 5, perpetual would have cost to that point $4494 and subscription would be $4995.

I'll stay until PT has something worthwhile to offer or they offer something I absolutely need. I used to upgrade with every release just 'for the sake of it'. Now I need more reason to do so.
