Default 12.6.1 and Izotope

I had a nightmare of a time getting my new system up and running. Finally avid remotely went through it and trashed preferences and found the Isotope stuff was taxing the crap out of my 3.33 12 core with 32 ram. Gonna grab more ram. Not sure that will fix it. Gonna grab a solid state drive. Not ssure it will make a huge difference. How come all these native hd guys talk about 100 plug ins at a buffer of 128..... really....

Don't waste your money, you've got plenty.

SSD will always be worth it IMO.

I would like to know which Isotope plugins were causing your issues and
how you solved them as I have a similar rig and am about ready to install
12.6.1.

Thanks...

Now that you mention it, Ozone 6 really grinds my system to a halt also. I never really investigated it. It was a bit of an on-sale impulse purchase, really... which turned around to bite me. Within 6 weeks they had released Ozone 7. The exact same thing happened to me when I bought RX. I only use the plugins, paid a small fortune for the entry level RX suite... then within a few months they had released the RX plugin pack for about a fifth of the price.

Throw into the mix my recent iLok authorization issues and I am a little bit scared to buy anymore iZotope stuff. If they keep this up, they will probably be giving it all away for free in a years time.

There is definitely something wrong if a plugin is chewing through 32gig of ram and 12 cores of processing power. I will always recommend a SSD... but I think the solution to this specific problem may begin with dropping iZotope support an email.

I use RX with Pro Tools every day, both the program itself monitoring through Connect, and the plugins. The only time I have RAM trouble is when I have both RX and Filemaker open at the same time. For some reason, either is fine without the other, but together, some kind of memory-leak-type situation is created. It's possible that it happens in combo with other programs, too.

I don't have PT 12 but in PT11 the RX plugin pack (that's the four plugins that were broken out of RX) mucked up my system something fierce. They require WAY more delay comp than PT is capable of. Just one plugin on the system in my profile and it took PT anywheres from 5 to 10 seconds to start playing. Digital Performer wasn't any better so it looks like this one is on Izotope.

The work around is to freeze them as soon as your done tweaking. Mix at 1012 samples. It could be a 12.6.1 issue. The software may not have caught up with the operating system. Drew, Ill try the ssd drive first. My mac is a 3.33 12 core from 2009. It was probably a 6 or 8 core that was upgraded.

I haven't done a bunch of testing with 12.6.1 and sierra
because 12.5.2 is working so well on 10.11.6.
Im on a MacBook pro 2.7 quad with 16 gigs of ram
I've had the Izotope music production for a month now and just mixed some sessions with only 7 or 8 tracks but using neutron on each track and Ozone on the mix buss with no problems. Even tracked vox through nectar2 no problems.
I think you're right, it may be the combo of Sierra and 12.6.1..
I put a SanDisk Ultra II 960GB SATA III SSD in this MacBook and it really rocks!
Good luck!

Those plugins aren't really meant to be used as in real-time. That's why they come with standalone applications. Use them in audiosuite and save your real-time inserts for compressors, EQ etc..
