Is there any need to buy anything more powerful?

Same multicore geekbench score as an m3 Pro chip... 600 quid.

256gb storage can be come irritating, but I've been able to work with it on an M1 for a few years.

I’ve just ordered a Mac mini M4 Pro. I’ll report my experience when it arrives. Fully expecting it to not replace my Mac Pro 5,1 immediately, but hoping to go the HDX route with it over the next year.

M4 Mini is redesigned in so many ways. For example storage can be replaced without soldering.

Kind of a silly totally subjective question don't ya think ?

To do what exactly comes to mind ? Record a few tracks audio in ones bedroom ? likely not.
Run Abby Road studio ? definitely yes and then of course there is everything in between

Ya just saw a video about that (Note for example I am already at 226.4 Gb of used space on my M1 Pro MBP that I am typing this on )

Take a look at people trying to open up the Mini and breaking the first piece they remove. Also I'm not sure how you'd buy the nand card. I've only seen a brave owner trying to solder new nands onto the card.

Yes No doubt alternatives will appear and is a good thing. And I think the guy in the video just got in a bit of a hurry. Although press fit always involves the possibility of breakage .

You can buy it with a 512gb system “drive” and/or use an external.

I just ordered one and have an external 2tb drive to add to it.
(For my office. Studio M1 Max is my main Pro Tools rig and it’s flawless. Extra storage (2 tb total) via a Sonnet expansion chassis with 2 m.2 drives and a UA OCTO card.)

But I never understood the power switch on the BACK, now it’s on the BOTTOM. EH??
