At the moment, Protools is not qualified to run on Tiger OSX.4, which the G5 2.7 ships with. However Tiger support is expected within 4-6 weeks, so 6.9 will run on Tiger on a 2.7G5 when that update is available. Earlier PT versions will not be supported, but may (!) work...... wouldn't recommend it though
There have been posts on this conference with people having installed 10.3 on a separate drive, and running PT on a new generation G5 so if you can't wait apparently it can be done.....

Without getting into any details, I can assure you that PTHD will work on a new G5 2.7 as soon as a Tiger compatible version of Protools is released.
A word of advice though, if you're planning to get the G5 2.7 you should wait till it is fully tested and approved by Digi.

i've been running 6.9 on a new 2.3 for several weeks now and it's been great. i installed panther via FW to a partition and put tiger on the other so I'm ready. i know it's not officially supported but i figured since it's basically the same architecture as the 2.5 i'd chance it.
