Default Help on a Delay Effect

There's a delay effect on this remix off a Ferry Corstan CD that I'd really like to emulate on a remix I'm working on, but I need some help figuring out how it was done. You can hear a bit of right at the start with the vocal clip, but you really get it from 1:35-1:42 at the end of the word "me" in the opening phrase of the verse. The effect comes in just a bit after the end of the word and its, I think, some sort of gated effect with a nice rhythm to it. I know how to gate stuff and can easily set up a gate to create that part, but its the way it comes with that delay at the tail end of the word where it seems to be sustained and then the gate.

Anyone have a way that might be done or a way I could try to emulate it? Its a really nice effect, I think, and I'd like to get the general technique so I can create some variations on it.

Thanks!

I know what stutter edit is, but not familiar with shimmer. What does it do?
And how did you set it up?

def a "secret weapon" many of our artists know to ask for by names during their sesh!

sean costello of Valhalla created a great one-trick-pony
inspired by eno's ambient trick of the 80's,
(later adopted into the edge's guitar sound)
by feeding 2 lex verbs into one another
with a pitch shifter in they middle.

sorta like a barber shop pole effect for audio.

Yep Used it a lot and still an awesome plugin for trance effects on Vocals

No AAX (of course) but works with MB7-2 or Patchworks

http://www.valhalladsp.com/valhallashimmer

Worth Waayyyy more than 50 bucks. If I have to do all that with reverbs and echoboy and cut and gate I would never sleep

Just throw it on and every preset is HEAVEN!

Best Regards
Christopher

Help me understand this. I don't see this being much different than Reverberate from Liquidsonics. The control knobs are basically the same...though a different order. And Reverberate has delay and routing and all that. What am I missing? I already have Reverberate. The only knob I see on Shimmer that I don't see on Liquidsonics is "feedback"...but Reverberate can still set that up, though in a different way.

I have both and in my opinion Reverberate will do everything Shimmer can and more. And Reverberate has feedback on the delay page, I believe.

They're in beta phase with their AAX port. Yay!

Yes, If you own it you can get the AAX Beta. I believe they are all working fine as far as I've read.

As said before, Stutter edit does that effect.

I did that effect in my Kelis Acapella remix a couple years ago.

go to 2:45-3:00 of the track. I mixed the effect up more so it matched the lead. In the remix you reference, its more in the background and doused in reverb.
