Default ARA2 is only for Melodyne?

I updated to 2022.9 Studio on my laptop. I saw that Synchro Arts released RePitch that uses ARA2. I downloaded the demo but in PT for ARA2 there is only the Melodyne option. What id the deal with that? Do I have to wait for Avid and Synchro Arts to get on the same page?

edit: I also emailed Synchro Arts support.

I'm basing my answers on what I saw at the webinar right before PT 2022.9 was released.

ARA (And ARA2) was created by Celemony (makers of Melodyne) - in conjunction with Presonous. Therefore, it makes sense that the first steps for Pro Tools into ARA is with the creators of Melodyne.

It was also said that each implementation of ARA (like by iZotope or Synchro Arts) is its own thing, and has to be done in partnership with those devs.

So, ARA functionality was JUST rolled into Pro Tools with Melodyne. We may have reasonable cause to see other ARA workflows in the future. But considering that Avid has said that Apple Silicon-Native Pro Tools is a priority, it may not be in the next couple of updates (or it might?)

I'm reasonably sure it's coming.

As a Melodyne user, I've found Repitch still gets a ton of use here.

When re-pitch and Vocalign Ultra get implemented into ARA, it is going to be amazing. For stacks of vocals, you can assign a bunch of tracks to follow the edits you are doing on one RePitch track. This will be a huge time saver.

Synchro Arts support got back to me and said basically what you posted. They did say that they don't have timeline for PT ARA2 implementation but do see it coming in the future.

Yes! that's why I decided to download the Repitch demo. Give that a spin and see how it works. I would hope all of Synchro Arts software becomes compatible with Pro Tools version of ARA2. And soon!

That's great. I do use ReVoice, and SynchroArts has a long history with Pro Tools (via VocAlign). I'll be glad to have them onboard when they've got it together.

I've been using repitch for a few weeks and once I got used to navigating in the GUi, it's been growing on me. It sounds great and the new shaper tool is really useful!

My one serious complaint though is that instead of processing on the fly, repitch records an audio file in the background that is post clip gain, so once you've captured the source audio, you can no longer make any changes to clip gain. Re-Capturing is a clunky workaround and makes a mess of the waveform display. Losing the ability to lower a bit of sibilance or tame an unruly peak pre-insert is a limitation that I just can't get used to. I realize I can tune, commit and adjust from there, but I simply don't want to work that way. I'd like to be able to jump back into re-voice and make a tweak when necessary.

Has this been something that's bothered you?
