Default Control Surfaces

Soo.. I was thinking about getting a control surface.. I'd love to get a Tascam US2400... but its discontinued and impossible to find...(anyone have one for sale?)... other choice would be a few MotorMixes's ganged together. then my next choice would be the a few Behringer BCF2000's ganged together.. I don't have the money for the a Control 24.. and can't bring myself to buy 8 faders for 1k like the control 8...

I'm looking for motorized faders, that aren't too noisy... Doesn't have to have Transport controls...

Now that they have a White version o the BCF2000 it looks a lot nicer(atleast to me)... BCF2000-WH

Whats the difference between the BCF2000 faders and "touch sensitive" don't thy both control the faders on the screen? and screen to fader control?

Look at the Tascam fw-1884. I use one and it does a great job. The faders are moderized plus I can add on fe8s down the line. Plus if you ever need additional inputs you use it and send the signal over optical to your pro tools interface. You can find them used between $400 and $500 on ebay and craigslist.

You can also find Command8's used for 500-600(check the buy&sell section once a week).

Anyone think about using a Mackie Digital 8 Bus? it would probably work with the HUI setup.. and also double as ADAT inputs and SPDIF Inputs... 24 faders + Master... Meter bridge and 10 additional Pre-Amps with and Talk back....

anyone using one?

The D8b looks great and also BIG... I've been using the Mackie Hui which you can pick up from ebay at less than $400. Looks very similar to D8B but is 8 fader only and no built in effects or ADAT. It does however have a 'control room' monitoring section, metering, jog wheel, i/o's etc...

If you go down the HUI or D8B path make sure you check with the seller that all faders are working as they should. They can sometimes suffer from 'sticky' faders.

I managed to get a great deal on a hui a couple of years ago for about $150 and really enjoy using it. Preamps aren't so great but everything else just works...

I'll take a look around.. I saw a great deal for a D8B on Ebay and havent seen stuff for HUI yet... some MCU non-Pro's for like 250-500.. so i might start with those trying to get some good deals for around 250... and build on the extensions.

The BCF2000 just doesn't look impressive enough... I want a control surface for better productivity.. but i also want it to look very cool when a client comes in the studio. So I guess I'll be looking for some used stuff...
