Default Weird issue when upgrading OS X

Hi,

I just wanted to give you heads up about an issue that has happened to me during my last OS X upgrade.
I was happy on 10.9.5. for a while now, but wanted to make an upgrade to a current OS X when it felt completely necessary.
The later didn't really happen but I started to dig the apperance of the OS X pf the post Mavericks era.

Anyway, I backed up my startup disk, wiped it out, installed a clean OS X Sierra and began migrating the data through Migration assistant.

Completed successfully, went on to discover ins and outs of the new OS X.
started my PT HD 12.6.1 and it appeared to be less sluggish, more responsive, than under 10.9.5.
(perhaps just an initial thought)

Then the trouble started!!!

I wanted to start recording, and the message appeared ''cant write audio files, you don't have privileges...''

What was even more scarier is, that not a lot of users had similar problems.

In Sierra it is (almost) impossible to repair disk permissions. so I thumbed with the SIP protocol and how to disable it.

Before that I wanted to see what the ''get info'' has to say. And it was ''fetching'' the name of the account that had the read and write privileges.

That made the thing clearer.

I repaired ownership (admin) and now it works.

it seems that when I migrated the data from previous startup disk to the one with fresh installed Sierra, the ownership of the (separate) SSD disk didn't quite migrated all the data.

A ''hidden'' gem, I wanted to share if anybody else stumbles into anything similar.

That's your mistake right there. Migration Assassin is the reason behind many random errors

The wording is perfect. It's been well talked about here that that utility is killer but in the wrong way. Amongst other things you'll be bringing over things that might no be compatible with the newer OSX and you'll end up killing time going back and downloading and installing compatible versions of programs that should have been done the first time. You did it half-right in wiping out your drive and not doing an in-situ OSX 'upgrade'.

thank you for posting this .. i am getting close to moving to Sierra from Mavericks ..

i did all the testing of Sierra during last summer and had issues with the 1st release and gave up until things got ironed out ..

so maybe time for a new SSD and a new fresh build !!!

Yes, this seems just as solid as Snow Leopard (and it is much to say).
