Default Looking for an interface that works with Pro Tools 5.1

I have an old Mac OS 9 system with Pro Tools 5.1 on it and I'd like to listen to some of my older recordings but I can't find any info on an interface that will work with PT 5.1

I bought a used Digi 002 not realizing that it was for Mac OS X and above.

The Mac OS 9 computer I have has mix cards #1 and #2 installed and connected to a Digidesign Adat Optical 24 Bridge and the Mac has firewire ports.

I realize I can convert all the PT 5.1 sessions over to my Windows PT PC but that would take an eternity. I would like to hear the sessions first before converting them over so I can pick and choose.

Any ideas on interfaces that would work on this setup?

Original mBox or Digi001, unless you go for card based TDM system. Actually Digi001 is also card based, but without TDM.

Sorry, read your post too fast as it was in the USB/FW subforum. Short answer:
  • There is no FW interface that will work on OS9
  • If you need USB, your only choice is original mBox
  • You already have an interface. If you need DA, buy 888|24

Doesn't the ADAT bridge have a stereo analogue out? I forget how you assign it but you should be able to use that to monitor. Just save a copy of your session before you change the routing or anything.

Thanks for the reply and info J.

So just to be clear if I purchase an Mbox original. I would plug in the spdif ins and outs from the Digi Adat Bridge to the Mbox spdifs and then set the playback engine in PT to Mbox Spdif (assuming that PT recognizes the Mbox)?

You're right. The ADAT bridge does have analog outs in the back. In my PT sessions I have output set to the only non grayed out option which is 1-2 (Stereo). Still no audio out of the ADAT's analog outs.

No, it is either TDM system or mBox. If you buy mBox you actually need to remove the cards.

Okay thanks! Honestly I just need to hear the sessions I created years ago. I don't need to do anything other than that. Not sure why the ADAT interface analog outs aren't playing audio.

I went ahead and got a used Mbox Original from Reverb. Well see how that goes. Thanks for the tip on removing the Mix cards on the Mac
