Default Re: Sonoma 14.6

I've been running Sequoia since the first developers release. No direct issues with anything to do with Pro Tools. But I've seen multiple bugs with Systems Settings, C compiler (may not be new), audio "mic" settings bugs (may be resolved), I've filed at least three complaints, should have filed more. But Pro Tools 2024.6 and nearby releases working seemingly OK for me here is in very different contrast to Sonoma which had major issues with the then current Pro Tools when it was in beta and first released.

However I would definitely not extrapolate those experiences to just consider Sequoia "safe to install on day one." Lets wait and see. I also personally don't say use Pro Tools with video, run Avid control surfaces, and don't run with hundreds and hundreds of plugins. I have no rack of Avid MTRX and not 192 fader S6 etc. so my own experience is not that helpful for many critical users.

So often on this forum an errant plugin is found to be the culprit of whatever issue the user is experiencing. We tend to treat that folder as a closet -- just throw everything in there. But over time it becomes a toxic wasteland, and a single bad/outdated plugin can plug up the whole system. Management of that folder is essential for smooth PT and other apps.

Installed 14.6.1 yesterday - started getting 'Protools failed to stop' errors .. maybe unrelated .. but it was working fine prior. However the sessions I was recalling did have some older plugs using rosetta.

Always check for new plugin versions after updating. Rogue plugin is the worst problem.

Okay I just installed Sonoma 14.6.1 on a separate container I share with Monterey.

Was stoked I was still able to install the digi 003 driver using junichiro's process.

I'll see how this puppy stands up.

Fresh built system will all latest versions ... just addicted to like 2-3 plugs that are getting long in tooth and won't be upgraded to silicon - Echo farm to name one throwing up errors. Gotta move on but a ton of mix revisions to do first so rosetta for the moment while I wean myself off it ...

I gave up on Echo Farm years ago, seemed to be more trouble than worth

The last version that I'm aware of was Big Sur. So I thought I might as well create another container with Sonoma and I was able to install the driver 11.1.5 without a hitch, ( WOW )

There's no video out there past Big Sur for the Digi 003. But this video works.
