003 wont work!

hey guys
ive just formatted my hdd and now my 003 wont install
i've tried installing 7.4 and 8.0 and niether seem to be installing the drivers
the "link" light on the back of the 003 is on but the 1394 light is not

the system was working fine before we formatted it

if anyone can give me some help, that would be great

the fw card appears to be working, it shows up in device manager and in the network connections as a 1394 connection,
also, the disc that came with the fw wont work, it says its for windows 98

also the fw card is made by wise and has a via chip, model number is wn-540

I thought VIA firewire was not compatible?

i have/had no idea about that one man
i also have a agere fw323-05 and agere fw323-06 that i cant find drivers for, if anyone knows anything about either of those

I thought firewire card drivers were usually installed automatically by Windows? Are there any chipset drivers required for your MB? Not sure, but maybe that would help.
