Default M-Audio Transit

Hey folks,
I recently upgraded to protools 8 on my iMac but I'm looking for an alternative for my laptop so I can pull up sessions on the go. I'm considering purchasing the M-Audio transit. Has anyone use it before? Can you please tell me if it ships with the protools software or do I need to purchase it separately?
Thanks

My answer is based the assumption you are using M-Powered on your iMac. Why not just move the iLok from your iMac to your laptop when you're on the go. That way you only need one license as you are only using one copy at a time. Unless a retailer is specifically bundling PT-MP with the Transit, I believe it will be sold seperately.

because he still needs an interface and probably doesnt want to use the one connected to his imac.

i think the transit is great. i got mine over the micro as it actually goes up to 96k. it is a great little portable interface.

The Transit IS Great. I recently did a review (German Magazin) comparing the newer Profire 610/2626 with the Transit.

I was amazed to find the same sound quality on all 3 interfaces.
But of cause the ProFire have a louder Signal and better S/N ratio due to the balanced I/Os.
But that´s it.

There is even a simple hardware modification I was told by an M-Audio Engineer to make the S/N Ratio better on the Transit. But you will loose support for
Elektret Microphones which is no big deal, i guess.

best

I use my Transit on several Windows computers (sorry ;-)
On some of them I get perfect results, but the others make a nasty bumble-bee noise out of it :-(

Absolutely agree, I was addressing the comment on purchasing PT seperately.
