Default Completely removing Pro Tools from my system

Is there a document on how to completely remove Pro Tools and Digi drivers from my WinXP Home computer? I've got PT 6.4. I don't believe that the add/remove programs in the control panel completely cleans things out. I need to reinstall, but I want to start with a clean slate to help avoid problems.

There is a article in the answerbase on how to manually uninstall.

A search will turn it up.

I already looked there. They have something about PT v5, but it's not very user friendly. I couldn't find anything on v6.

Why not just save your important data and reinstall Windows? I do it all the time. Seems like every 2 months or so. I know that it is probably unnecessary, but I install and uninstall so many programs that it just "feels" cleaner.

Perform this operation. This is the only way to manually uninstall.
A reformat is not needed unless this does not solve your issue.
If this is too diffuicult, you are out of luck.

This could be caused by a corrupt registry or a faulty installation disc.

It would be advised to create a system restore point before editing the registry.

If any attempt to uninstall and/or reinstall Pro Tools using normal conventions fails, and you suspect a corrupted registry, use a 3rd party utility such as regcleaner to remove all Digidesign entries from the Software and Uninstall portions of the Windows registry. If these sections aren't clearly labeled to you in your 3rd party utility they can be found by navigating to the following keys using your preferred registry editing utility or regedit.exe in Windows.

Software entries:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Digidesign

delete the Digidesign key

Uninstall entries:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall \ (any keys relating to Digidesign)

delete any keys relating to Digidesign - this will remove them from the Uninstall list in Add / Remove Programs, allowing you to start a clean install from cd.

After removing the Digidesign registry entries delete the Digidesign folders on the hard drive:

C:\Program Files\Digidesign

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign

Restart the computer

Install Pro Tools from the installation disc.

If this does not take care of the problem you may need to reinstall Windows.

Also try searching for and deleting all instances of dalwdm.sys as per Rail's post here:

http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB32&Number=878551&Forum= f32&Words="dalwdm.sys"%20"delete%27&Searchpage=0&L imit=25&Main=878529&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name =1840&daterange=1&newerval=1&newertype=y&olderval= &oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post878551

Sorry, it won't let me use the URL function.

Cheers,

RegEdit will let you remove those nasty registry entries a bit easier.
