Default Pro Tools / Windows video resolution

Hi there,

My new Asus laptop video screen resolution is 3840x2400. All programs and web browsing so far (except Pro Tools) look awesome with the screen as crisp as it can be and all the fonts seem to be normal size.

Pro Tools 2024.6 Ultimate on the other hand, opens with fonts and drop down/pop up menus so small I can't even read them. Zooming accomplishes nothing but zooming in/out on the timeline. Changing the resolution in the Windows 11 display settings results in PT components resizing themselves differently and looking quite stupid, and changing margins on the screen.

Since the rest of the computer world looks great on this box, I would like to be able to change a setting in PT, but can't seem to find one.

Any ideas?

On Windows Settings -> Display -> Display resolution -> set it to 1920 x 1080
instead your 3840x2400. Then it should be OK for Pro Tools.

We all hope that in the future it will be solved by AVID professional developers.

Yeah, I figured that out. Thanks for your reply. And yes, Avid needs to do a better job with so many different default screen resolutions in our universe.

No problems, they will solve it in one day. I personally have set my UHD capable laptop to Full HD, because this laptop is only for Audio stuff and I don’t want bother to switch this thing every time around.

A different scaling setting might also help. This is the big reason I hate working PT on a laptop. I run a pair of 32" screens here(1920x1080) and the overall look(for me) is just right, to the point where I don't even need my readers(which I must use on my office PC with a 27" screen).
