Default error \"no record volumes disignated\"

System.
Mac osx 10.4.10
pro-tools m-powered 7.1

error message "no record volumes designated"

I am able to playback and edit, thats not the problem.
When record enabling a track the above error message appears.

I have had the advise to delete volume files within application support/ digidesign/ volumes folder.
I have search my entire HD and deleted all volume files found for digidesign.

Furthermore I have re installed my M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410 audio interace.

This has not solved my problem and is weird as recording the night before caused no problems.
Any help or advise would be very much appreciated as this is cuasing great problems.
kind regards
Tim
