Anyone try the new Exponential R4 yet?
Anyone try the new Exponential Audio R4 Reverb yet?
They're offering a big discount for current owners of other Exponential Audio products. Wondering if it's worth it?

I have it and love it! The R4 freeze function is amazing for sound design. This one is definitely worth it in my honest opinion.

I jumped in on the upgrade offer and really like it. Very nice job Exponential did on this one.

Is the freeze function like the one in Eventide Blackhole?

Re: Anyone try the new Exponential R4 yet?
Don't know I've never had my hands on the Eventide. Freeze is kind of a tricky thing to pull off. You've got to capture the contents of the reverb in a way that smooths any splice points (you don't want it to sound like a loop in an old sampler). You've also got to make sure that all internal filtering is turned off in a way that doesn't cause it to die away or blow up.
One thing that might be a little unusual in this is the fact that you can still modulate the EQ on the frozen tail. I'm here to answer other questions if anybody has them. Michael |
