Default PT Audio to MIDI with Drums

Can the new Audio to MIDI functionality be used in place of something like Trigger to augment or replace sounds?

Yes and no.

Yes it can detect the hits. No it might not be as good as a dedicated drum replacement plugin.

Are you working with multitracks of each hit? If so, it should do a pretty good job. But, you’ll still need to load up a sampler with whatever sounds you want to layer. A dedicated drum replacement plugin will probably be quicker and easier. A lot of them also have better detection algorithms for flams/rolls etc.

Agree with Sardi. I have used Slate Trigger for many years, but these days, Toontrack SD3 does a pretty stellar job

The Tracker component? I’m anxious to demo that…
