Kontakt2 2.2.3 Crashes Pro Tools

Just installed this 2.2.3 update after having some good success with 2.2.1 in the last few months (ie it worked without crashing, pops or fizzles). Unfortuantely PT now refuses to load when K2 is instantiated. One suggestion on the NI forum was to delete the Kconvert.bundle out of the Library>Application Support, but that just put me into a spiral of Kontakt in "demo" mode refusing to authorize.

Back to 2.2.1 and all seems to be good again. Have alerted NI to the issue and they are looking into it.

hate to say it. but i updated with no problems.Kontakt and kontakt player.But saying that im trying out structure and it seems to load most of my library of sounds that i use with kontak,so im tossing up which one to go with .Im leaning towards the Air/digidesign stuff as im sick of 3rd party VI's that say they work with pro tools but give u nothing but trouble.If Kontakt in rtas was a car it would have had a huge recall a few versions ago.Saying that, it seems strangely stable with the latest version,but so far structure has given me no problems (apart from trying to learn how to use it) How come my b4 and pro53 VI;s give me no problem?same manufacturer!

Glad to hear it was painless for you. It means that a fix for me isn't too far away. But I wanted to give the warning for others, in case it goes deeper.

It's not a huge bother to stick with 2.2.1 for the moment. NI gave me info on uninstalling and a fresh install of K2, but it's still quitting. Perhaps that is a reason to move to Structure, but then I'd have two samplers (M5 and K2) that would be sitting around collecting dust. Still I'm sure it's a small tweak to get K2 (2.2.3) working, and I look forward to that.

so your doing all the prefs deleting etc after it crashes? repair permissions ?Have you tried disconnecting the control 24 ?because apart from that our set-ups are pretty much the same.
Make sure you dont have any older version plugins in your folder just the" Kontakt2.dpm"

Thanks for the tips. I did all this reinstalling on the rig without the C|24. Just the Rosetta. Definitely no previous older plugins hanging around. Posted the following to NI and I'll post any successes.

i) Re downloaded the K2 v2.2.3 installer
ii) Rigorously deleted all instances of anything name "kontakt" on my drive, except library items
iii) Repaired permissions, emptied trash and restarted
iv) Installed K2 from Disk
v) Installed K2 v2.2.3 updater
vi) Ran Service Center
vii) Repaired permissions and restarted
viii) Launched K2 as standalone (successfully, as expected)
ix) Selected Internal audio interface
x) Launched PT session with no K2 instantiated (successfully, as expected)
xi) Launced PT session with K2 instantiated. PT quit off screen
xii) Deleted Kconvert.bundle
xiii) Repaired Permissions & restarted
xiv) Launched K2 as standalone. This time it did not go into demo mode
xv) Launched PT session with K2 instantiated. PT quit off screen
xvi) Launced PT app. Then loaded session with K2. PT quit off screen
xvii) Trashed PT prefs, dBs and volumes. Emptied trash and restarted
xviii) Launched PT session with K2 instantiated. PT quit off screen.
xix) Went to make tea

I simply installed v2.2.3 without deleting any previous documents. (just overwritten)

Reading "What's this?" to understand what kind of bugs NI has fixed really surprised me because there were so many bugs than I thought.
Logic and K2 became much more stable. I will never go back to v2.2.1.

BUT!! K2 RTAS 2.2.3 crashes ProTools!!! It never happened before. This must be a bug.

Creating a new song with K2 does NOT cause a crash but opening any old session which is including K2 track(s) 100% crash PT.

So.... I tried this.

Create a brand new session and goes to " import / session data " and import instrument tracks from the old song first.
It works!
Now import all other tracks and save as "old song name" at original location and re-open the song.
It works!

This is my bug fix story. ( I go back to work now)

Hi. I'm stable after removing all out of date plug-ins from Ni.
Impakt, Kompakt, GPO, JABB...

Rebuilt the K2 databases. (Pain in time)
Trash the Digi databases & volume
Trash the Digi DAE pref's to rebuild the plug-ins.

The old Garritan / East West Plugs will make K2 crash
Just use Kontakt2 to play the older impakt and such retired formats.

Try to delete all the Cash files in the User Cashes Folder and in the Main Library Cashes Folder and see if this works.
I would do this every time there is something installed or changed by the installer in the User and/or Main Library Folder...

I have Storm Intakt/Kompakt, but I'll remove those to see if that has any impact.

I'll rebuild the K2 dB. All other Digi files already trashed... Thanks for the tips. I'll report back on my success (or failures).
