Default Win10 Pro - Class Compliant Hardware Problem - Midi

Guys,
So it appears that there are issues with Win10 and class compliant hardware.
It appears that Win10 wants to see a driver package and my M-Audio Axiom Pro 49 does not have software/drivers.

That's the whole idea behind class compliant....which has been chill since what.......Win95?

So has anyone had any luck with this? I use USB cable for years now.

M-Audio's site was no help, I couldn't reset my password and it appears they don't want you to login to ask questions.

Did you go into the device manager and verify the driver there?

Just bought a fast lane, at least they write drivers for their hardware

According to this article, Microsoft has already confirmed that if Windows 7 drivers are available for a piece of hardware, they'll work with Windows 10. ...

If you're willing to try it, download the latest Axiom Pro 49 Windows 7 (x64) driver from:

Did that - but they didn’t install - or rather the installer didn’t work

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you.

If you used the 64-bit Installer, thank you for confirming why I should stay on Win 7 - looks like I'm locked in by hardware.

Yes it would have been nice if the installer worked

I’m sure I could open the installer and manually install the driver, but I don’t exactly know how to do that and didn’t bother googling it

- hopefully I get the fast track before the holidays

You don’t need a driver to use the Axiom Pro series keyboards in Windows 10. I use an Axiom Pro 61 key and so does another guy I know. Windows 10 fooled me at first on this too. I plug in the usb cable and run midi through it but I also have had it working through midi cables going in and out of a Motu midi box. The thing that fools you is in Device Manager it comes up in Other Devices with the yellow triangle and exclamation mark and tells you it needs a driver installed. You just have to ignore that. If you look in Sound And Game Controllers you should see your Axiom there. That’s where it operates under the class compliant Windows 10 drivers. If you want to use midi cables instead of usb you will need to install divers for your midi interface and use the Axiom through it. You need to make sure not to add the Axiom as a Uaudio controller in Protools as you used to be able to do in Protools 10 because it will give you an error message. The Hypercontrol software hasn’t worked in Protools since version 10 but the keyboard will still work fine as a controller. I use it all the time in Windows 10.

Ok, I guess I will have another poke around later

I did not see it in, Sound and Game Controllers, yesterday

I also installed Midiox and did not get any midi activity when playing the keyboard

Yes I am not trying to use hypercontrol at this time, just a midi key controller
