Sync HD build date & revision info from the serial?

Hi.

I need to grab a Sync HD and the closest one available the seller can't/won't provide a pic of the Date code/Revision sticker. They say it's packed for shipping already.

It's an Avid grey one, but I think maybe a very early one.
Does anyone know if the serial contains any useful info?

Agreed. Unfortunately there aren't too many units available here in Aus' at the moment, thought I'd ask here before I start looking overseas.

Yep missed you were in oz. FWIW I have had very good experiences buying older RME MADI gear from Europe to the USA, mostly over Reverb. I like to ask sellers a few questions and make sure they seem to know the product/are legit. I sure would run away from somebody not willing to unseal a box to get a date code. I've had resellers of Eleven Racks trying to ******** me about serial number versions... start asking for photos of the back panel and they get squirrelly.

You might want to look at units for sale in the USA, there are some good reputation sellers on Reverb with Sync HD for sale. I expect professional (re)sellers on Reverb to ship international and to package well.

Date/Revisions on the Sync HD mean nothing. No importance.
Make sure it has the grey face/purple Avid logo and you are recent enough (though there's nothing wrong with the blue and silver ones either as long a they are "SyncHD" and not "Sync")

Be aware that some people have swapped the blue/silver faceplate for the purple/grey faceplate (to make it appear newer.) This happened when you could buy those from the Avid parts bin (like from retailer Full Compass.) That's now a while ago but those versions are out there. The body of the unit (not the faceplate) will give it away. As will the label on the back.

I've bought a few things from the US before and haven't had any issues, so that is certainly an option.

I have the old Sync IO hooked up with PT10, it all still works fine amazingly. But need the SyncHD now as you say. I'll have a look about.

Didn't know about the faceplate thing at all, thanks for that.
