Default m audio midisport uno and mbox

Is anyone using the midisport uno with the mbox?
The only "compatible" midisport is the 4x4.
It is considerably more expensive then the uno, and add it all up and the 001 is only slightly more expensive than an mbox/4x4 set up. The cheaper price of the mbox is appealing.
I am thinking that the drivers, etc are pretty much the same with all the midisport products, with the difference being in the in/out puts.
I dont want to spend if I dont have to.
I am the undisputed cheapskate of the DUC!

Why wouldn't the 1x1 work with the MBox??? As long as the drivers work in XP, the MIDI channel exists, so the MBox should see it. Is there an express statement that it won't work printed somewhere? I went from the 1x1 to the 4x4 to the 8x8 with a 001, never had a problem. Never tried the MBox with the 1x1, and I don't have the 1x1 anymore. Hope you can buy a 1x1 and return it if it doesn't work with the MBox. There's other brands I suppose...

Why wouldnt it work? Well it should, but it is not listed as a recommended midi interface. Only the expensive interfaces are, which would offset the lower selling price of the mbox.
That being said, the non recommended amd 761 chipset not only worked, it completely smoked the "recommended" chipsets at the time.
This is the place for the answers so thus the question.

The only thing I can tell you is that I've use the parallel port 1x1 interface from MidiMan, not the USB 1x1. And that worked fine with a 001, dunno with an MBox. That's a small amount of comfort I hope.

man dont get the uno for the mbox...i got the mbox and the uno did work with my mobox but for some reason when i had my motif hook up the uno gave off some kind of hum or maybe it was the motif but i know it didnt do that hum thing when i just had my mpc hook up to it. i got the midi 1x1 and it works fine...see im like you cause you seen the fact that you could get the uno and not have to buy any midi cables.but get the 1x1 and youll be cool.

I'm interested too. I don't do much more than a click and control surface with midi, but those darn recommended new usb midi controllers for the new macs were just not justifiable for the cost. If the cheaper usb devices would work on a new mac with TDM, I could finally get use out of the HUI again.

(At home I run a 002 on a PC, so I don't need any more than the built in sound card and the 002 for midi)

Cali,
You're the first post I have found who has had this issue with the Midisport Uno besides me...now I know I'm not insane (well,actually...). Whenever I plugged the "midi-in" cable on the Uno, into any midi-in on any other sound module, I would get that horrible data-esque/processor-like noise, and I just could not trouble-shoot it. This noise is similar to the dreaded "USB Noise" people have been reporting w/Mbox on other posts here, except it's amplified several db louder when you plug the midi-in to something. It Sucks!! It's weird, too, because the drivers are, from what I can tell, the same as the Midiman 1x1. So I would recommend to others: do not...I repeat, DO NOT buy a Midisport Uno!
That is all for now.

Midi sport uno works from what i've heard, and the midi sport 2x2 which is only a little bit more(Which I have), has never given me a problem, very good piece of equipment and cheap.

LP, sorry - but if you read above, Midisport "Uno" does not work. Anyone considering buying this - you might want to look at the 2x2 - or 1x1, which is the same driver the Uno uses(?) - or a dedicated PCI card for midi. I haven't figured out a way yet to get the "Uno" to work without it creating a mysterious "digital noise" loop when using the midi-out (to a module, another synth, whatever...). However, midi-in (from my controler keyboard via/the Uno) works fine.

My midispoert UNO works perfectly well on my Mbox setup. It works on botha notebook and desktop system by different manufacturers. But then again I am a lucky one as others could not get a Uno working. I updated the drivers though. The emagic box seems to work universally. I am very happy with the cheapo Uno.
