Bought used 002r

Been out of the Digidesign game for awhile, avoided iloks so I am a bit confused.I am getting the transfer of ownership papers tomorrow, I understand that process, did it before with my Mbox years ago.

The 002r comes with a "Factory" marked ilok, purchasing PT 8Le in the next day or so, I set up an Ilok account and despite the video help, I am lost.What is the process to get the ilok in my name, as the $25 transfer fee option won't work.I just need to know step by step what needs to be done to get the plug ins updated to 8 and the account in my name.The previous owner is not much help in this regard.

Since you are in possession of the iLok, AFAIK, you should just be able to plug it into the computer and those plugins(assuming you install them with PT) should work as is. The programs/plugins don't care who's name is attached to the iLok account, only that authorizations for the plugins are on the iLok. You can run more than 1 iLok so if you decide to get more in the future(more plugins that require iLok, that is), you can buy a new iLok and start an account with your new plugins. I run 2 iLoks on my rig and a friend runs 3 on his.

When you purchase a factory bundle the ilok is unregistered with the licenses already installed on the ilok. Once an ilok is registed to an account for more than 7 days it is then tied to that account and cannot be transferred. Single assets can be transferred to a new user for $25 each or ilok will cap at $100 for multiple transfers if you ok it with them via support.

The best way to transfer multiple ilok assets would be to get the seller to purchase a new ilok, transfer the assets to the new ilok and unregister the ilok before 7 days. This way you can add the ilok to your own ilok.com account.

If you have just received a pre-registered ilok then your only going to be able to use the auths that exist on that ilok in their current state, you will not be able to access the contents of the ilok for updates, crossgrades, sales etc unless the seller has handed his ilok.com account over to you, username, password etc.
