GO to the main Avid site and look for a link to join the ACA. Avid did have suggestion methods here some years ago, but it turned messy pretty quickly. Also, look thru Avid Link as they also had(not sure if its still there) a link in there for suggestions.

Marianna or ANY Avid rep reading this,

can you forward this request to your UI design peeps?

is this even a possibility,
or are we all just wishful thinking & wasting our breaths??

#1 gripe with Pro Tools. we've been stuck with 1920 x 1080 for nearly two decades. time to put a fresh coat of paint on this mess...

I'm not sure why they're sticking to 1080p. I'm also curious to know how many PT users have 4K screens.

Mac OS runs at 110ppi. Most 1080p screens are ~90ppi or less, so the computer is forced to process an added degree of graphics scaling, and everything looks a little fuzzy.

The most common panels today are 27" 1440p, where an accurate 110ppi text looks even smaller. Reducing the resolution on a 1440p screen to 1080p makes PT look great (native resolution drawn at 110ppi on a larger screen). However, the scaling can bog down the CPU.

Gaming monitors with high refresh rates are a fantastic option for improving the jittery performance seen with Continuous Scrolling enabled during playback at 60Hz. However, in my experience, the high refresh rates typically cannot be engaged with a panel's non-native resolution. So, once again, you're stuck back to operating with specs from the year 2000.

Today, a 5k screen runs at ~220ppi and is essentially a double-drawn 1440p 110ppi image. If Apple can improve the Studio Display's refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz (ProMotion), we may finally be able get something decent out of Pro Tools. Who knows if / when this will ever happen though.

At the very least, though, Avid desperately needs to get us from 1080p to 1440p with adjustable text size.

(Apologies for the long rant, but I've spent the last three years researching / demoing various monitors get PT looking somewhat decent. In the end, it always comes back polishing the 1080p turd. Can't we just flush it already?)

I’m sure there are plenty of UI designers, computer engineers looking for work
That would easily code Pro Tools to take advantage of higher resolutions and font resizing.
And I’m sure Avid can afford to hire one for the few months,
Heck maybe interns can do it
Avid charges enough to pay for this update

4K, but it's a big one, and as mentioned I have it enlarged in Display Prefs. I don't know what resolution that equates to but it's no longer 4K.
