Bug: Commit, Freeze Crashes Constantly 2024.6

Until now i observed this:

- No more crashes when all Serum and Omnisphere Instances are frozen :)
- Occasional crash when freezing a track with an active Serum instance
- Still having crash messages after quitting Pro Tools using <CMD Q>

I'll let you know about further observations.

Just to add - I know 3 or 4 people of at my studio complex having this issue, I don't think it is specifically related to Spectrasonics (although I think everyone has at least one SS product installed).

The workaround for now is to select 'Do Nothing' in the track commit dialogue, then it renders the track without crashing and you can delete the original track manually.

Any more info on this? I'm running 2024.3.1 and I get very consistent crashing when using Serum...every few minutes. If I freeze Serum they go away 100%.

Great, can you please post here if they respond. I read in some posts on their forum that they seemed to imply it was Avid's problem to fix. Either way I'd like to know what's up.

it has already been tested on the new build and confirmed by testers that it has been fixed. No exact date for the release yet but should be within a couple of months.

So this is indeed a protools issue right? Nothing that they can do with Serum to sort it?

I'm asking because for me this means I need to pay to upgrade to have a working system with that plugin. I'm very happy on this version of protools besides this bug.

Thank you for the update.
This is a serious bug; so a quicker update or hotfix than "within a couple of months" would benefit a lot of users.

I agree...I've been a protools user for over 20 years and I've never had an issue like this where using a plugin (I need daily) would render my system almost inoperable.
